As a laboratory engineer in molecular ecology, you will work in close collaboration with post-docs and PhD students, be responsible for quality assurance of the molecular work in the laboratory as well as independently manage research projects. You will introduce new co-workers to laboratory work and be responsible for developing standardized operating protocols and implementing laboratory safety routines. Tasks will include collection of environmental samples from study sites, extraction of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), PCR and real-time PCR amplification. The projects will include troubleshooting and development of novel molecular assays and protocols. As some projects will be cross disciplinary, experience in animal science research, handling poultry and fish, non-invasive sampling and clinical lab-work will be highly valued.
