Qualification Details

  • PhD or similar research experience in the field of aquatic or marine ecology.
  • Possession of a university teaching qualification (is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable affinity and experience with developing and providing ecological education.
  • Good network in education and research.
  • Demonstrated affinity and experience with interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary (e.g. socio-ecological) thinking is an advantage.
  • Inspiring and enterprising teacher, able to provide education independently, supported by research conducted by and with other staff.
  • Conceptual/analytical ability, social awareness, good presentation skills and results orientated.

Responsibilities/Job Description

In this capacity, the lecturer contributes to the development of the new Bsc Marine Science that will start in 2023. You should be able to take on these teaching tasks almost immediately  due to the academic teaching schedule.

The work of the Aquatic Ecology and Water Quality Management group focuses on generating new insights that can help restore freshwater and saltwater ecosystems and train a new generation of professionals. The complex interaction between physical, chemical and biological processes with human-induced changes to the environment is central to our system-oriented research. The research is multidisciplinary (chemical, biological, mathematical) and ranges from laboratory research (detailed process studies) to model studies to field studies. The group’s multidisciplinary expertise comes together in the development of integrated models for ecosystem and water quality management.

New insights are integrated into the chair group’s teaching as much as possible, which means that our education is constantly evolving. In addition to innovations in content, our teaching is also constantly evolving in order to transfer knowledge in the best possible way and allow students to gain knowledge. All courses at Wageningen University are taught in English, which is also the lingua franca at our research institutes.
