Qualification Details

Essential experience and skills:

It is important that you have documented experience with management, certified experimental animal handling, behaivoral and neuropsychiatrical analysis and proven neuropathological analysis expertise.

  • Should hold a degree as laboratory technician (academy profession degree or similar)
  • You must be good at working independently and organized, and be self-motivated while you should have team-work spirit
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills, in English; spoken as written, Danish familiarity is appreciated while not required

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Familiarity with induction and evaluation of models for multiple sclerosis, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
  • Familiarity and capacity to evaluate behavioural and neurological symptoms in models for neurodegenerative diseases of aging like Parkinson’s dementia
  • Brain and spinal cord tissue dissection, preservation, sectioning of frozen as well as paraffin-fixed tissues, immune staining and evaluation using light and epiflorescent microscopy

Responsibilities/Job Description

As our only laboratory technician, you will carry out a number of routine laboratory tasks like reagents and buffer preparation, and mycoplasma screening of cell lines, management tasks of the lab including handling chemical, safety and environmental issues, work in sterile labs, ordering reagents etc. You will also need the experience on working authority GMO1 safety guidelines and regulation. A successful candidate should be capable of working independently to manage experimental tasks and being able to participate in various research projects that involve genetic analysis and setting up breeding strategy of gene modified mice, and performing behavioural, and neuropsychiatric analysis, perform neuropathological analysis in close collaboration with the group’s scientists.

About the Department

Our research group consists of 18 scientists, PhD students, postdoctoral scientists, and one technician. We are part of BRIC, a research center at the University of Copenhagen dedicated to conducting basic research that gives insights into the mechanisms leading to diseases. Our research group is focused on unrevealing inflammatory mechanisms leading to neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. We utilize animal models for translational science to address these aims.

About the Employer:

Your employment will be at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. The position is full-time (37 hours per week), and it is open for appointment 1 March 2022.Employment as laboratory technician will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 5.Depending on qualifications a supplement may be negotiated.
