Qualification Details

  • You have a university level in the field of (business) economics or in controlling. Ideally, you have (also) completed a course in register control.
  • You have at least five years of managerial experience in a complex and large professional organization.
  • You are organizationally sensitive, know how to connect people, can deal well with various interests and you are able to implement changes within this force field. In doing so, you take into account your professional finance role and the wishes of science.
  • You are firmly in your shoes, are strong in terms of content and at the same time a practical approacher, you take initiative, go for the best result and are tenacious in a pleasant way.
  • You have a coaching way of leading, in which you are focused on the continuous development and improvement of employees and on promoting mutual cooperation and connectedness.
  • You are strong communicator and write and speak Dutch and English well.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Finance,quality education and innovative scientific research go hand in hand. That immediately says everything about the importance of your position as finance manager at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences. Clear financialmanagement, clear processes and good mutual cooperation on a financial level: indispensable for the core activities to run optimally. You take care of it!

Within the faculty you are responsible for the planning and control cycle, you answer current problems and financialquestions of the organization and you make the connection between the primary process and thefigures. You advise, both solicited and unsolicited, from a financialpoint of view, on the proposed policy and you will lead or participate in TU-wide projects or policy topics in the field of finance. You outline desired solution directions and make proposals for improvement. In addition, you work a lot with scientists and this makes your role at TU Delft special. Scientists go fortheir research projects that sometimes involve tens of millions of euros. You facilitate the research by explaining in clear language how things are going financially and what the impact is on finances,in this way scientists get the most out of their often groundbreaking projects.

Asfinancemanager, you fall under the director of Finance,but operationally you report to the dean of the faculty. You lead the Finance faculty team and you coach the team in the growth towards the objectives of the faculty and finance. You are operationally responsible for the decentralised financialprocesses and for the accuracy of the profit and loss account and balance sheet of theunit. From your position, you also manage operational financial control on specific matters. Furthermore, together with your fellow finance managers of the faculties, you form a team that continuously evaluates and improves cooperation, processes and services.

University Service - Finance

The Finance Directorate is responsible for the financial strategy and policy development. Finance also takes care of business control, procurement, treasury management, taxation, insurance and the (operational) activities in the field of financial information provision and administration. The Finance Directorate consists of a central organisation (including the Departments Shared Service Centre, Business Control Concern, Financial Control) and decentralised Finance teams across the various management units.

Working conditions

  • The employment is 1 year with the prospect of permanent employment.
  • A job size of 38 hours per week.
  • A salary that is based on scale 13 from the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities with a minimum of € 5,275 and a maximum of € 6,421 gross per month, plus 8% holiday pay and an end-of-year allowance of 8.3%.
