Subject/subject description
Accounting is the part of Business Administration that focuses on studies of financial accounting, management accounting and auditing. In this subject area, qualitative and/or quantitative methods are applied to investigate how various forms of accounting such as management control systems, auditing practices, and financial reporting have significance for individuals, organizations, and society.
Main responsibilities
The employment includes teaching and supervision as well as participation in the planning and development of education within the subject discipline of accounting. Teaching is expected to take place in both English and Swedish. It is also expected that the applicant can teach in all sub-areas of the subject and at all levels, i.e. both at undergraduate and master´s levels.
The employee is expected to get involved in the department’s research and to be able to initiate, organize and lead research projects.
The employment includes own competence and research time, which is stipulated by the local agreement for teachers.
Qualification requirements
Eligible applicants for the position of senior lecturer should hold a PhD in Business Administration or have equivalent research skills and have demonstrated teaching expertise.
Teaching proficiency should normally have been demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate- and master’s levels. Teaching proficiency should be well documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities.
The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.
Assessment criteria
Special and equal emphasis will be placed on teaching skills, demonstrated through teaching experience at the undergraduate and masters levels, and research skills demonstrated through own research, both in the subject discipline of accounting.
Strong emphasis will be placed on a documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers.
Emphasis will be placed on administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.
Emphasis will also be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.
It is a merit to have completed at least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.
Additional information
Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of appointment, but the candidate should be prepared to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require proficiency in Swedish within two years of employment.
