Qualification Details

As a qualified candidate, you need to have:

  • A PhD degree in power engineering or equivalent
  • Research experience in integration of flexibility at system and distribution level, and market design for flexibility markets
  • Relevant work in modelling of flexible assets and their impact on the network for power markets participation
  • Experience in data analysis in the field of power systems
  • Experience in distribution system modelling and analysis

At the end of the period as Assistant Professor, you must be able to be responsible for courses and to lecture in Danish. Thus, you must be willing to learn Danish during the Assistant Professorship. You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • International impact and experience
  • Societal impact
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry

Responsibilities/Job Description

Your focus will be to strengthen our research, education and innovation within the field of power flexibility in modern power systems, dominated by the large penetration of distributed energy resources and renewable energy. Your profile shall contribute to DTU’s strategic focus on Europe’s best engineering education, sustainable transformation and digitalization. You are expected to be enthusiastic about your research and have strong abilities to teach and supervise. We will value experience in the areas of flexibility system integration, local flexibility markets, demand response, congestion management and the transformation of distribution system operational practices. You are able to fruitfully collaborate with close colleagues, leading scholars around the globe, and front-running companies in the heart of the green transformation. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Supervision of BSc and MSc students, and co-supervision of PhD students
  • Course design and teaching BSc- and MSc-level courses
  • Carry out excellent research and develop a recognized scientific profile, which over time will contribute to international visibility and reputation of the center and the department
  • Build up a strong collaboration with your colleagues and external partners within academia and industry
  • Contribute to attracting grants and initiate and secure external funding in close collaboration and coordination with your colleagues

As Tenure Track Assistant Professor you will be conducting high-level research with an impact on real-world flexibility applications contributing to the important green transition of our society. The position’s research areas include methods for mobilizing, estimating and activating flexibility. Additionally, focus is given on the implications of large-scale flexibility integration at both the overall power system and distribution levels, and on the optimal flexibility utilization and the associated power market models.

About the Department

Department of Electrical Engineering educates students within electrical engineering technologies. We offer studies at BSc, MSc and PhD levels, and participate in joint international programmes. We conduct state-of-the-art research within electromagnetic systems, robot technology, power and physical electronics, acoustic environment, electro-acoustics, and electric power and energy. Our department has more than 200 members of staff.

The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
