Qualification Details

Your primary qualifications are:

  • Documented research experience in energy markets, such as electricity, heat, natural gas, and ancillary service markets
  • Strong multidisciplinary research profile at the interface of power systems, optimization, game theory and machine learning. With a focus on digitalization of the energy sector, your profile is expected to demonstrate your capability to conduct cutting-edge research, aiming to develop advanced analytical and mathematical models.
  • An ideal candidate has strong theoretical background in the majority of the following areas: advanced optimization (e.g., data-driven and distributed algorithms), game theory (e.g., cooperative and non-cooperative algorithms), mechanism design (e.g., various allocation mechanisms), privacy-preserving algorithms (e.g., differential privacy algorithms), and machine learning (e.g., online and reinforcement learning, Bayesian inference).
  • Teaching profile showing your ability to fulfill teaching duties in an independent and responsible manner.

At the end of the period as Assistant Professor, you must be able to be responsible for courses and to lecture in Danish. Thus, you must be willing to learn Danish during the Assistant Professorship.As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

Responsibilities/Job Description

You are expected to strengthen our research, education and innovation within energy markets and the digitalization of energy sector. Your profile shall contribute to DTU’s strategic focus on Europe’s best engineering education, sustainable transformation, and digitalization. You are expected to be enthusiastic about your research and passionate about teaching. We will highly value innovative thinking and your ability to conduct both fundamental and applied research. You are expected to fruitfully collaborate in both research and teaching at DTU with scholars around the globe, and front-running companies at the heart of the green transition. Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Supervision of BSc and MSc students, and co-supervision of PhD students
  • Course design and teaching BSc- and MSc-level courses
  • Carry out excellent fundamental and applied research and develop a recognized scientific profile, which over time will contribute to attract external funding and promote international visibility and reputation of the center and the department
  • Build up a strong collaboration with your colleagues and external partners within academia and industry

Department of Electrical Engineering educates students within electrical engineering technologies. We offer studies at BSc, MSc and PhD levels, and participate in joint international programmes. We conduct state-of-the-art research within electromagnetic systems, robot technology, power and physical electronics, acoustic environment, electro-acoustics, and electric power and energy. Our department has more than 200 members of staff.

The start-date will be set according to mutual agreement. The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
