Qualification Details

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The PhD develops the necessary methodological framework for consistent, systemic and systematic quantification of environmental impacts associated with maritime green fuels, thereby contributing with a core element in the transition of the shipping industry. The project builds on internationally leading tools already developed at DTU, but establish the specific approaches relevant for the maritime sector. Focus is placed on environmental impacts, but cost modelling may be included.

The intention with the project is to provide an environmental assessment framework applicable for the shipping industry aimed at calculating environmental impacts associated with fuels, in view of the full value-chain of the fuels, infrastructure, resource consumption and interactions with other sectors. The project is expected to provide novel methodological advances but also demonstrate these methodologies on selected fuels and value-chains, in collaboration with industry and relevant stakeholders.

The PhD is offered as part of DTU's strategic collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. A research visit at NTU is expected. The PhD is hosted by DTU Environment as part of the Resource Circularity team.
