Qualification Details

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Responsibilities/Job Description

Your overall focus will be, contributing to DTU’s strategic aim towards being Europe’s best Engineering education. We provide courses and instruction that feed into a number of DTU’s Bachelor in Engineering (BEng) Programmes as well as a range of continuing education formats, including Diploma Programmes. Our approach is research and development-based with a strong focus on professional practice, hands-on experience, problem solving and business readiness.  Qualifying our graduates to detect, analyse and find solutions to real-world challenges and technical problems across engineering disciplines and in practice-based, complex and development-oriented job functions. At DTU, the pedagogical concept and the BEng programmes are based upon the internationally recognized concept CDIO.

Your focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within electric infrastructure and of this derived technologies and techniques. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. University-industry collaboration will characterize your teaching and research, why we value practical and theoretical experience with designing, implementing and operation of electric infrastructure.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach and supervise BEng and BSc student projects, and be co-supervisor for PhD students.
  • Engagement in industry-university collaboration
  • Establishing and leading the research group
  • Course responsible for courses within power engineering, power electronics, and derived and emerging technologies.

As a manager, you are a role model engaged in dialogue, so that your leadership inspires others to follow.

In recent years, DTU has been working concertedly to professionalize leadership at DTU. You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. The teaching language of the department is Danish. Coming from abroad you will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

About the Project/Department

DTU Engineering Technology bridges research with problem solving through university-industry collaboration that takes form with and without student involvement. For example by industry cases in teaching, industry cases driving student projects and in collaboration between employees and industry.

Besides yourself, the group consists of 5 other staff members and is expected to grow in the next years by addition of PhD students. You will be the driving force in the establishment of the research group with focus on sustainability, securing supply of the electric infrastructure and bridging to consultancy within power engineering. Securing supply and the electric infrastructure is both with perspective to the electric grid and other interactive infrastructures i.e. transport, P2X and district heating. All aligned through a deep knowledge in power engineering.

DTU Engineering Technology has a strong track record in university-industry collaboration on both faculty and student level. Based on DTU’s Ballerup Campus with state-of-the art labs and workshops, DTU Engineering Technology is a driver in collaborations between students, faculty and small and medium sized companies. With approximately 500 graduation projects and 500 student internships with industry per year, our hands-on approach to technology transfer and solving real-life industry challenges is part of everything we do.
