Responsibilities/Job Description
Third-cycle subject: Transportation Science
Online decision-making in multimodal mobility systems will play an increasingly critical role in cities, including shared MoD systems, electrified transport, and autonomous vehicles. While complex mobility systems incorporate first principles based on physical models, they cannot fully take advantage of the valuable information from online data. Pure data-driven approaches are data hungry and highly depend on data quality, and thus may lead to biased and uninformed decisions by neglecting the domain knowledge.
This project develops methodologies for tractable modeling and optimal control of multimodal autonomous mobility systems. The methodology combines data-driven modeling of uncertain systems, stochastic model predictive control, and distributed optimization. Special application emphasis will be paid to integrated public transportation and on-demand services systems from aspects of planning, operations, and management. In addition to your doctoral studies, you will be expected to teach or perform other department duties up to 20% of full-time.
