A) General eligibility requirement
You meet the general eligibility requirement for doctoral/third-cycle/PhD education if you:
- have been awarded a second-cycle/advanced/master qualification (i.e. master degree), or
- have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the advanced/second-cycle/master level, or
- have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.*

B) Specific eligibility requirement
You meet the specific eligibility requirement for doctoral/third-cycle/PhD education if you:
- Show proficiency in English equivalent to the course English B/English 6 at Swedish upper secondary school.

(A) and (B) can only be certified by the documentation requirement for doctoral education.
Skills and personal qualities
We are looking for a doctoral candidate with a background in (bio)medical sciences, (bio)chemistry, (radio)pharmacy or equivalent and demonstrated laboratory skills. Some prior knowledge about tumour biology is required. Experience with radiochemistry and/or molecular imaging is considered an advantage. The project will include small animal handling, so prior experience in this field is appreciated. The candidate should be a strong team player with excellent collaborative skills. Good communication skills in English are required.
The student will develop a novel radioligand therapy for patients with brain cancer. First, tumour-targeting small molecules, peptides or antibodies will be labelled with radionuclides for molecular imaging (e.g. PET, SPECT). These will be extensively validated in in vitro and in vivo tumour models. Next, the most promising radioligands will be translated into their therapeutic counterparts, which will then be evaluated in in vivo therapy studies.
Applications are invited from highly motivated, ambitious students with a positive, can-do attitude. At the end of your doctorate project, you will:
- have a broad understanding of the molecular biology and pathophysiology of brain cancer, as well as preclinical cancer models;
- have in-depth knowledge of (radio)chemical methodology development;
- have profound knowledge on molecular imaging, pharmacokinetics and radioligand therapy;
- have developed a critical, independent, creative way of hypothesis-driven scientific thinking;
- know how to independently and timely conduct experiments and accurately analyse experimental data;
- know how to present research data through peer-reviewed manuscripts, a high-quality thesis and presentations at (inter)national conferences;
- have high ethical research standards and be able to critically assess the impact of your research on society and the environment.
