Job description

In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world. Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent. The position is offered in relation to the research program”Intelligent Energy Systems and Flexible Markets” and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section for Applied Power Electronic Systems.Research areas will be related to developing models and tools for cognitive sector coupling as well as planning, operation, and business cases of integrated energy communities with appropriate market structures.

The successful candidate must have experience and competences in most of the following areas:

  • Control and operation of integrated energy systems in different application such as ports and eco-industrial parks
  • Sector coupling and Power-to-X technologies 
  • Energy market designs for procurement of flexibility services
  • Business models for flexible energy production/consumption

The candidate is also expected to be experienced with quantitative analysis and operational research methods in energy system operation, planning, market design and techno-economic analysis. Expertise in hardware-in-the-loop(HiL) testing and coding skills using Python or JAVA programming is an advantage. Some teaching activities within the research area and collaboration with our team for translating research ideas into project proposals, may be expected. Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.

Wages and employment

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities(the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance’s current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
