Postdoctoral position in comparative immunology

Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our ultimate goal is to conduct education and research of the highest quality and relevance to make a long-term difference in society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has over 54,000 students, more than 7,500 employees and a turnover of around SEK 8 billion.

At the Department of Organismal Biology, we conduct teaching and research on evolution, development and function at the organismal level. For more information see www.iob.uu.se.

The position is located in Söderhäll’s research group (https://www.iob.uu.se/research/comparative-physiology/soderhall-lab/://www.iob.uu.se/forskning/jamforande-fiziologi/soderhall-lab/) at the Department of Organismal Biology (Uppsala University). We study innate immune processes in invertebrates, mainly crustaceans, and compare these reactions with those described in higher animals. The project that the position refers to involves studies of crayfish blood cell-forming (hematopoietic) organ, which contain stem cells that develop into several different types of cells, such as immune defense cells, but also cells that participate in the new formation of nerve cells and cells that repair damage in the brain.
