Responsibilities/Job Description

If you understand both research and the huge potential in having the right access to data, you have just the right foundation for this exciting job. When joining DTU Bioengineering you will get a rare opportunity for seeing your personal efforts making a difference far beyond the average.

By leading our way towards a new set-up for data management, you will create a far better foundation for your Scientist/Research colleagues’ ability to engineer the molecules of life for a sustainable future. In other words, you will personally play a pivotal role in solving some of the greatest societal challenges in recent history, including climate change.

Map needs and wishes and develop and implement a new strategy and frameworkBasically, your job is to provide access to better data so we can make better research and by that come up with better and more innovative solutions. It can be development of antibiotics, plastic degrading enzymes, microbiome engineering and other bioengineered innovations. Key words for the data handling are findability, accessibility, interoperability, security and reusability.

You will do so by establishing a systematic dialogue with researchers across the department to understand needs and wishes regarding management of and access to data. You will be the person that turns this into a data strategy and specifies the requirements for what the new data framework must be able to do. Then you will work closely with DTU specialists, external partners and members of the newly founded Bio-Data Science Core (that you will be a part of) to set up the best possible data management infrastructure for the department. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Map needs and wishes for data management via close dialogue with Researchers/Scientists
  • Develop a new strategy for management
  • Specify requirements for systems and specific IT-programs/tools
  • Project manage the implementation of the new data management framework
  • Support scientists in creating data management plans before they initiate their research – in close contact with our project coordinators.
  • Ensure we are in line with GDPR regulations and the Danish Code of Conduct for Research Integrity

Your new workplace will be DTU Bioengineering at DTU, Technical University of Denmark’s main campus in Lyngby, Copenhagen. Here you will be the first member of our newly established Bio-Data Science Core team. As such, you will contribute to defining the roles needed to create the best team possible e.g. Data Scientists, Data and Software Engineers.
