Are you a curious and enthusiastic person? Do you want to use your artificial intelligence skills to gain insights into how we can create a safe and sustainable food system? Do you have experience in machine learning or deep learning? We have a vacancy for a PhD candidate in food safety!
What will you be doing?
The PhD will comprise of:
- gathering and combining enormous amounts of food risk data;
- extracting relevant food risks using machine learning methods;
- develop and deploy a federated learning infrastructure to ensure privacy conserving machine learning;
- use explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) to investigate developed machine learning models.
In this position it is an absolute must that you have experience with and passion for machine learning. Your research is performed within the Extreme Food Risk Analytics project within the Wageningen Food Safety Research Institute. Various case studies will be performed with international partners from all over the European Union. Besides working on your own PhD, you will also contribute to other ongoing research in this domain, and you might initiate and contribute to the writing of new project proposals.
Your qualities
- You have a MSc in computer science, artificial intelligence, or another relevant field
- You have a solid scientific basis and excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate this into machine learning models
- Good writing and communication skills
- Good knowledge of English language, in listening, speaking and writing (OOPT score C1 or C2)
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1. If you do not yet have this level, we will of course help you and you can go to our language center Wageningen in’to Language
