We are now looking for a Principal research engineer in Bioinformatics.

The position

You will focus on the construction of a multi-scale molecular health and disease network and develop AI-based analytical infrastructures as a basis for precision medicine-based decision support.

The person we need

We are looking for someone with a PhD in bioinformatics, systems biology or a similar area relevant to the position and who, during their doctoral studies, has demonstrated the ability to successfully complete projects.

Documented practical experience in genetics, multi-omics analysis and systematic bioinformatics is a requirement for the position. The position requires experience in the following techniques and methods:

  • Integrative multi-omics analysis
  • Network analysis
  • Machine learning methods
  • Multivariate analysis

Good programming skills (Python/R), experience with high-performance computing and a solid training in data mining or machine learning are seen as highly meritorious.

The position requires very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

As a person, you are flexible, structured and you are taking responsibility for your work. You are characterized by great motivation and high integrity. You have good communication and collaboration skills and feel safe in a multicultural context. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

The workplace

The position is located at the Division of Cellbiology (CELLB), in Wen Zhong’s research group.

The position involves close collaboration with doctoral students, postdocs, research engineers and experienced clinicians. We use state-of-the-art facilities and resources, including Berzelius HPC systems, a 300 petaflop NVIDIA SuperPOD resource, multiomics platforms and bioinformatics infrastructures to develop data-driven computational tools.

Full time, time-limited employment 12 months.

Starting date 1st of April 2023 or by agreement.
