We are looking for an enthusiastic technician / lab employee who has experience with analyses and modern analysis equipment for water quality measurements. We are looking for a colleague with a bachelor's degree as a laboratory technician with demonstrable work experience with ICP-OES, ICP-MS, LC-MS and similar equipment.

We work a lot with international researchers, which makes your Dutch and English communication skills very important. Our technicians can work independently as well as in a team. We are looking for a service-oriented and proactive employee who ensures the continuity and quality of the lab and the setups and analysis equipment present there and at the same time is eager to learn and wants to continue to develop.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The modern and rapidly expanding Waterlab is part of the Water Management department and facilitates research for about 50 researchers and supports the practicals for Environmental Engineering students. In the Waterlab we conduct research into drinking water quality and preparation, wastewater treatment (ML1 lab) and we carry out measurements and field experiments in water management.

As a chemical laboratory technician of the Waterlab, you are (co-)responsible for measuring and analysis equipment; in particular, independently managing ICP-MS, LC-MS, GC, HPLC, and isotope analyses: sample preparation, analysis runs, method development, internal quality assurance, relationship with manufacturer and actively participating in interlab quality control.

In addition, you give instructions to Bachelor, Master and PhD students with regard to performing analyses. The research is carried out by the researchers themselves, but you will make an important contribution to their research by thinking along about the high-quality and reliable analyses to be carried out. You also feel involved in the day-to-day running of the lab. Think of cleanliness and safety.

We are looking for a new colleague with good knowledge of the equipment. We are open to 0.8 – 1.0 FTE and it is possible to use your working hours flexibly.
