We are looking for a Research Engineer formally based at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN).

The position

You will work in a research laboratory at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN) and will investigate physiology of the peripheral nervous system. The project will merge themes of transcriptomics with neurophysiology. Your work assignments will include the design and execution of molecular labelling experiments, molecular anatomy experiments as well as molecular physiology experiments. You will also use transcriptomics expression analysis and molecular genetics. Even communication with national and international partners as well as authoring of scientific articles will be part of your future duties. You will be a part of scientific results dissemination – including figure preparation and writing of journal and conference papers.

The person we need

We are looking for someone with a master degree in pharmacology, anatomy, neuroscience or similar. Experience and willingness in working with preclinical animal models is a must. The applicant is expected to have in depth knowledge in the following areas:

  • murine anatomy and molecular anatomy techniques (immunofluorescence, light & fluorescent microscopy, sample preparation)
  • transcriptomics assays including sample preparation (e.g. FACS, single cell sequencing data acquisition and analysis) 
  • small animal surgery (e.g. stereotactic injections)

The candidate must also be familiar with Image processing software and be able to manage data analysis and management very well.

It is particularly advantageous if the applicant is familiar with dissemination of scientific research and scientific writing. Knowledge of cell culture, murine pathology models and primary cell isolation techniques is also seen as meriting.

Fluency in both spoken and written English is a must.

As a person, you are independent and structured. You take responsibility for your work and are characterized by good cooperation and communication skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
