A position for a PhD candidate will become available from January 2023 in the Ochsenreiter group at the Institute of Cell Biology of the University of Bern.
Our lab i interested in mitochondrial organelle biogenesis using the single celled eukaryote Trypanosoma brucei as a model system.
We use a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopic imaging (including ultrastructure expansion microscopy and cryo-electron tomography) to study the underlying molecular mechanisms of organelle biogenesis.

Applicants hold a Masters degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or related fields with a strong interest in microscopy/electron microscopy and image analysis.We offer
- The position is funded for three years, with salaries according to the rules of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
- You will be integrated in the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences at the Univesity of Bern (GCB).
