Postdocs (1-2) in new Durable Materials for Capacitors and Recycling of Polymers – DTU Chemical Engineering

We are seeking postdoctoral researchers to be part of several upcoming research projects. The first project is an Independent Research Fund Denmark-funded project focusing on developing self-healing polymer capacitors which will take place in collaboration with SDU in Sønderborg. The second project is an industrial collaboration focused on recycling of polymers.

Responsibilities and qualifications

The focus of the two postdoc positions will be the characterization and development of novel polymers and characterization and evaluation of used materials to extend their life-time. All postdocs will work in close collaboration with nearby colleagues as well as with either industrial or academic partners abroad or in Denmark. The positions will involve research dissemination of results in scientific literature and at seminars and conferences. You will be involved in the supervision of bachelor and master students and the co-supervision of Ph.D. students.Postdoc 1 will work on the design and synthesis of a novel and cross-linkable polyolefin-based polymer that can form self-healable capacitors. The tasks include polymer synthesis and characterization, as well as dielectric characterization.Postdoc 2 will work on characterization and upgrading of polymers after their first use cycle. This will require a combination of analytical skills in characterization and evaluation of material properties. Specifically the project will also include synthetic upgrading of the obtained materials to ensure a high quality material for subsequent use.You have experience or background in one or preferably more of the below-mentioned areas:

  • Synthesis of polymers
  • Reactive extrusion
  • Characterization of polymers (SEC, NMR, IR, DSC)
  • Rheology

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years.You can read more about career paths at DTU here.
