Qualification Details

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics or a related field.
  • PhD in epidemiology, statistics, or a related field.
  • experience in applying epidemiological statistical methods, such as various regression analyses, on epidemiological data.
  • High proficiency in English language.

Great attention will be paid on personal suitability for the position. The applicant must have good capacity for collaboration and supervision within the group, and must be able to work independently in a structured way and be flexible.

Other assessments will be done according to the following requirements for the position'

  • Experience from working on large-scale epidemiological data, including from Swedish/Nordic national registers.
  • Ability to conduct statistical analyses out of the box.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The position entails work on epidemiological studies of various measures of obesity in relation to risk of disease and mortality investigated in a large database of many Swedish cohorts and national registers. The studies will be deeply orientated in statistical and epidemiological methods. The work involves independent work with statistical analyses and writing of scientific articles, but also to contribute expertise and work out suitable statistical methods to use within the research group, often for use in several studies. The job will involve conducting statistical analyses and article writing of studies, but may also involve only the conduct of statistical analysis and writing of the statistical methods in an article. The job will include some data cleaning, and may also include to contribute to grant applications in the form of input and/or statistical analyses.

About the Project

In our research, we use cohort- and register-based information in individuals to investigate primarily metabolic- and lifestyle factors in relation to cancer risk and prognosis, with the addition of genetic information in some studies. The larger projects driven by our group are the Northern Europe-based Metabolic syndrome and Cancer project (Me-Can), and a Sweden-based project on prostate. We are currently finalizing data collection for the work described for the present position.
