Qualification Details
For applicants to qualify for the position, the following criteria must be met (please also consult the Scholarly Qualification Matrix for more details):
- An excellent research track record and research potential documented by high-quality publications and an ambitious research strategy,
- Strong methodological skills (skills in quantitative methods are considered an advantage),
- Strong skills in university-level teaching
- The ability to engage in professional networks and international research cooperation
We expect applications to include a 5-year research plan that describes research themes, publication strategy, potential cooperation, and plans for external funding.
Applicants are expected to have good interpersonal skills and be dedicated to taking part in the everyday academic and social environment at the department and the research group. Within a three-year period, non-Danish-speaking applicants are expected to master the Danish language at a level which enables reading Danish exam papers and administrative documents. The department offers free language classes and a reduction in workload to support non-Danish speaking employees.
Responsibilities/Job Description
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct and publish research at a high international level on key political science fields such as comparative politics, political behaviour, political economy and/or comparative welfare studies,
- Teach and supervise students within the department's entire portfolio of study programs, including the full-time political science program.
- Perform research-related tasks such as supporting the development of collective research projects within the group, seeking external funding, outreach activities and other forms of knowledge exchange with the surrounding society, and supervision of PhD students.

The successful applicant will be affiliated with the Danish Centre for Welfare Studies (DaWS). Established in 2005 as a cross-disciplinary research centre, DaWS is an internationally recognized and dynamic research group. We emphasize scientific curiosity, high-quality research, and team spirit. Ongoing research at DaWS covers a diverse set of topics such as comparative politics, political economy, public policy and outcomes and effects of welfare policies as well as the history and developments of the welfare state. The research group covers a broad range of themes and methods.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
