- a solid publication track record
- teaching experience
- a good command of the English language, both orally and in writing
Desired skills and experience
- documented ability to obtain competitive research funding
- supervision at PhD levels
- a good command of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language

General qualification requirements

Permanent employment in the teaching and research position assumes educational qualifications. Østfold University College requires that everyone, at a minimum, must have basic pedagogical qualifications and competence in digital learning methods. If you do not fulfil the requirement for pedagogical qualifications, the employment is provisional for up to two years. See further description: Educational qualifications requirements at HiØ.
Applicants with insufficient abilities in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language may be required to acquire the necessary oral and written skills over a three-year period. The language requirement is documented by the passing of the Bergen Test at level B2, or equivalent.
Responsibilities/Job Description
The person we are looking for will become a central member of the research group ICT & Learning, which has a broad range of research interests on topics related to technology-enhanced teaching and learning.
Examples are
- Teaching and learning in technology-rich environments ranging from physical classrooms to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
- Development of professional digital learning competence (PfDK) of student teachers and educators within primary, secondary and higher education.
- The digitalisation aspect in policy development regarding teacher training, primary-, secondary- and higher education
- Informal learning with and within digital media
Key concepts for the research work are teachers’ professional digital learning competence (PfDK), digital agency and digital identity.
The research group ICT & Learning consists of a mix of scientific staff and doctoral students with an extensive network with regards to the practice field and to national and international research partners.
Furthermore, it is expected that the successful candidate will take an active part in and further strengthen the institutional research initiative The Digital Society. This is an interdisciplinary research initiative that includes research communities from all our faculties interested in studying sensible digitalization and society. The research group ICT & Learning is a central contributor to this research initiative.
Teaching and supervising are also included in the professional responsibilities of the successful candidate.
Work tasks
- Research and development work relevant for the research group ICT & Learning and related study programs.
- Developing online courses and supervising students in these courses
- Applying for externally funded research and development projects
- Collaboration with national and international research environments within the field technology-enhanced learning
- Teaching and supervising students at MA and PhD levels
- Mentoring early career researchers
- Take part in and further strengthen the institutional research initiative The Digital Society
The successful applicant may be required to take on other professional responsibilities by request from the Department of Education, ICT and Learning.

- the position is remunerated as associate professor between NOK 625 000 - 800 000. The salary scale will depend on qualifications, experience and market conditions. In the case of particularly relevant competence, a different salary may be considered for the position of associate professor.
