Qualification Details

Associate Professor

There are two alternative ways to qualify for a position as an associate professor in this subject area, either:

1: Norwegian doctoral degree in the subject area concerned or a corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree or competence at a corresponding level documented by academic work of the same scope and quality, and

2: Documented competence in relevant educational theory and practice based on training or on teaching and supervision,

Or

1: Completed recognized programme of artistic development in the subject area concerned or documented artistic activities or development work at a high international level and with a specialization relevant for the subject area or discipline, and

2: Documented competence in relevant educational theory and practice based on training or on teaching and supervision.

Assistant Professor

There are two alternative ways to qualify for a position as an assistant professor in this subject area, either:

1: Higher (master's) degree from a university, university college or the equivalent, and

2: Relevant research qualifications above the level of a higher degree and/or relevant professional practice, and

3: Documented competence in relevant educational theory and practice based on training or on teaching and supervision.

Or

1: Documented recognized artistic activities or development work of a certain scope, and

2: Education at the highest level in a field of art from Norway or equivalent education from abroad or equivalent documented knowledge, and

3: Documented competence in relevant educational theory and practice based on training or on teaching and supervision.

Good oral and written presentation skills in English and Norwegian (or possibly another Scandinavian language)

For applicants who do not have one of the Scandinavian languages as native speakers, oral and written language skills must be documented.

For employment in a permanent position, applicants must be able to teach in Norwegian/Scandinavian language. Temporary employment for two years can be considered in order to obtain ability to teach in Norwegian/Scandinavian language.

Applicants who lack documented competence in relevant educational theory and practice will, if hired, be required to obtain the necessary educational training within two years.

Qualified applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:

  • Artistic or academic research and development relevant to the position.
  • Artistic portfolio/showreel with breakdowns and, if relevant, up to 10 academic publications, journal articles, published media etc.
  • Experience with international artistic networks and externally funded projects
  • Experience in teaching and supervision at Bachelor and Master levels from higher education institutions
  • Pedagogical qualifications
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Good skills in communicating and collaborating with students and colleagues
  • Personal qualities which can contribute positively to the academic environment

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • The position entails teaching and supervision on the Bacheler  in CG Art and Animation.
  • The position involves research and development, including dissemination.
  • Participation in the development of externally funded research projects will be expected, as well as furthering research collaborations with national and international partners.
  • It is assumed that the appointee will contribute to the development of the academic community in the faculty, together with other colleagues

The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV) educates social scientists and professionals who meet society’s need for innovation in welfare, development and communication. The Faculty offers a PhD in Sociology. The Faculty of Social Sciences has 2 300 students and 200 employees. The position is compensated according to Norwegian government regulations, code 1011 for associate professor,   and code 1009 for assistant professor. Salary by agreement.
