Qualification Details

The candidate is required to hold a PhD degree in biology/biophysics/engineering. A candidate should also have hands on experience in Xenopus handling, live-cell imaging, quantitative image analysis, and pattern-engineering. A candidate with image processing background should have experience with segmentation and tracking in large 3D datasets and an interest in learning to work with the biological techniques described above. Finally, we are looking for applicants with a good record of peer reviewed scientific publications and grant writing skills.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The Novo Nordisk Foundation center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW) is a newly funded research center that aims to perform excellent fundamental research in stem cell biology and utilize such findings for the development of products for incurable diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. The center in Copenhagen includes close to 100 researchers and specialist staff, and work closely with stem cell researchers at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Melbourne, Australia, and Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden the Netherlands in the reNEW consortium. The setting is ideally suited for seamless collaboration and exchange with other centers and departments at the Faculty for Health and Medical Sciences and our sister reNEW nodes.

Job description:

We are looking for a candidate with a strong biophysical/engineering/image processing background to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms of epithelial cell renewal in vivo. Terms of salary, work, and employment 

The employment is for 4 years and will start July 2022 or upon agreement with the chosen candidate. The place of work is at reNEW, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, Copenhagen.  Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). In addition to the basic salary a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).
