Responsibilities/Job Description

The project connected to this position aims to develop bioorthogonal chemistry for molecular imaging probes that targets cells beyond the blood brain barrier (BBB). The successful candidate will synthesize tetrazine and trans-cyclooctene based structures that can be labelled with fluoride-18 and/or astatine-211 that in turns can be used for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and radiotherapy. SAR studies around tetrazine/trans-cyclooctene moieties will be carried out to identify suitable structures that cross the BBB and have appropriate pharmacokinetics to perform organic chemistry in living subjects. The successful candidate will be involved in radioactive labeling and subsequent evaluation experiments. The assistant professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination duties.
  • Research-based teaching.
  • Sharing knowledge with society.

About the Department/Section/Group

Main research focus within our group is to develop new radiopharmaceutical entities for diagnosis and treatment. Organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, radiochemistry, pharmacology and nuclear medicine are only a few key interdisciplinary areas that our research strives. As such, it is not surprising that we work in a national and international network with frequent meetings within the EU. Pretargeted imaging and therapy are the main research focus areas that our group is addressing.
