Qualification Details

  • An colleague who is a strong analytical scientist;
  • A colleague who has expertise in GC/MS and LC/MS techniques
  • A completed academic education (preferably with a PhD) in analytical chemistry;
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in analytical method development;
  • You’re conscious about quality of results you report;
  • You have a solid understanding of stakeholder management en can communicate with all stakeholders in- and outside of the organization;
  • A good oral and written command of the Dutch and English language. If English-speaking, the willingness to learn Dutch;
  • It is a plus if you have a network within the field of environmental pollutants.

Responsibilities/Job Description

At Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR, part of Wageningen University & Research) we are concerned with a safe food chain for humans and animals. Of particular interest are industrial chemicals such as chloroparaffins, PFAS and mineral oil hydrocarbons. These and other environmental pollutants enter the food chain, and lead to undesired human exposure. We want to expand this field within WFSR and we are therefore looking for an Analytical Scientist Environmental Pollutants.As an Analytical Scientist Environmental Pollutants you contribute to the further development of this field within our institute. This includes:

  • Development of analytical methods, based on GC-MS(MS) and LC-MS(MS) for chloroparaffins, PFAS and other pollutants. Both targeted and untargeted approaches;
  • Conducting method validations and application of the methods to food and other samples for human exposure assessment;
  • Management of projects and collaborating with technicians in the lab that conduct part of the analytical work;
  • Developing and summarizing research results together with colleagues into reports, scientific publications and presentations at meetings and conferences;
  • Contribute to acquisition by contributing to the writing of research proposals;
  • The further development and dissemination of the field of environmental contaminants, e.g. by participation in national and international working groups.
