Postdoctoral scholarship (2 years) in Bioinformatics

The Department of Molecular Biology is looking for a postdoctoral scholarship in Bioinformatics. The fellowship is full-time for two years with start by agreement.

Project description

The project will be carried out under the leadership of Dr. Francesca Aguilo. The research group studies how changes in modified RNA contribute to breast cancer progression and drug resistance. The applicant will combine cell and molecular biology state-of-the-art techniques such as ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, MeRiP-seq, CLIP-seq and other epigenomic and epitranscriptomic analyzes. 2D and 3D cell culture models, patient samples, as well as orthoptotic transplants will be used to study how RNA modifications regulate breast tumor formation.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree must be within the topics of Molecular and Cell Biology.

We are looking for a talented, independent and motivated candidate with competence in Bioinformatics. Knowledge of spoken and written English and an excellent list of publications (at least one publication as first name in a “peer-reviewed” journal) is a requirement. The applicant is expected to conduct research both independently and collaborate in a team, and great importance will be placed on the applicant’s potential collaboration skills.

A person who has been awarded a doctorate or a foreign qualification deemed to be the equivalent of a doctorate qualifies as a postdoctoral fellow. Priority should be given to candidates who have completed their doctoral degree no more than three years before the closing date of the application. A candidate who has completed their degree prior to this may be considered if special circumstances exist. Special circumstances include absence due to illness, parental leave or clinical practice, appointments of trust in trade unions or similar circumstances.

Application

A full application should include:

  • Cover letter which describes your research experience and why you apply for the scholarship,
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) with publication list,
  • Verified copy of doctoral degree certificate or documentation that clarifies when the degree of doctor is expected to be obtained,
  • Verified copies of other diplomas, list of completed academic courses and grades,
  • Other documents that the applicant wishes to claim.
  • Contact information to two persons willing to act as references.

The application should be written in English (preferably) or Swedish. Your complete application, marked with reference number FS 2.1.6-433-23, should be sent electronically (in PDF format) to medel@diarie.umu.se (with reference number on the subject line). The closing date is July 7, 2023. Further details are provided by Francesca Aguilo.
