Do you want to help reduce the use of antibiotics in the pig farming industry using statistics and data science? The Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Mathematical Sciences, offers a Postdoc position within statistics starting 1 February 2024 or soon thereafter. The position will be based at Aalborg University’s campus in Aalborg and will have a duration of 2 years.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The two year postdoc position is part of the research project “PIG-PARADIGM – research into the intestinal resilience of piglets” (see https://novonordiskfonden.dk/en/projects/pig-paradigm-research-into-the-intestinal-resilience-of-piglets/) funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation. Several national and international research institutions are a part of the project.

Project description

Biomarker candiates of pig robustness and pig gut antimicrobial resistome have been discovered in other studies in the PIG-PARADIGM project. The aim of this Postdoc project is to refine the candiate set by identifying and validating consistent (i.e. reproducible) biomarkers for pig robustness and pig gut antimicrobial resistome.

Your profile

As our new postdoc you should ideally have:

  • A PhD degree with a solid background within applied statistics.
  • Working experience with statistical models and techniques (e.g. multivariate statistics, multiple testing adjustments, controlling false discovery rate, resampling techniques).
  • Knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI) techniques (e.g. clustering).
  • Experience with omics data (e.g. genomics and metabolomics) and bioinformatics.
  • Creativity, perseverance, team spirit and high personal integrity.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
