Job description

As a postdoc, you will focus on a project that aims to explain health-to-PsA transition and advance PsA diagnosis and care by:

  • Identifying the key drivers in a multiscale/multifactorial PsA model explaining the causalities between inflammation and organs (systems-level), using xAI-based data mining on multi-source human studies data (medical, clinical, well-being, life-style, environmental, occupational) initialized by the knowledge from the state-of-the-art.
  • Extending the multiscale/multifactorial PsA model to novel PsA detection models, along with personalized prognostic models for the transition from PsO to PsA, by incorporating a system of omics-based biomarkers, combined with novel digital phenotyping to inform the xAI models by tracking key PsA risk/progression markers in daily living, via unobtrusive sensing with smart sensors (smartphone, smartwatch).
  • Offering a validated, privacy-aware, xAI-driven toolkit, supporting healthcare professionals (HCPs) in disease screening, monitoring and treatment optimization, via quantitative, explainable evidence, and empowering individuals with/at risk of PsA with tailored insights for informed health management.

You will be responsible for the progression of the project and will report on your progress and prepare presentations and manuscripts for publication. Finally, you are expected to contribute to the research line with the preparation of grant and project proposals. You will be involved in educational programs and in the supervision of students.

Work environment

Together with your colleagues in Portugal, United Kingdom and Greece you will integrate knowledge of the digital biomarkers and omics-based biomarkers. In more detail, you will design and apply for the Dutch cohort study and prepare all related documentation. As a member of the Iprolepsis team, you will also collaborate on achieving other project milestones. Depending on your personal preferences and experience, you could lead the part of omics-based biomarkers. Preparation of a cost-effectiveness assessment is optional.

Qualifications and skills

  • You are just finishing your PhD project in a quantitative topic.
  • You are familiar with large datasets, but also comfortable with qualitative data.
  • Previous experience with languages such as R or python is preferable.
  • You like complex topics, enjoy working in an international environment and keep track of many things that happen at once.
