The research subject of Building Materials consists of 19 people including five professors and one post doc. Subject description Building Materials includes sustainable building materials and their application technologies, recycling and reuse, and applied building physics, especially focusing on the artic conditions.
Project description The projects goals are to find alternative to limestone sources of raw materials, modify and optimize existing clinkering process in order to significantly lower the CO2 footprint, limit the need for limestone, enhance sustainability and mitigate the negative environmental impact. The project will be mainly performed at the Luleå University of Technology in cooperation with Cementa AB, Boliden AB and with several other supporting and advisory actors. The activities include theoretical modelling, experimental testing, and sustainability analysis.
Duties As a PhD student you are expected to perform both experimental and theoretical work within your research studies as well as communicate your results at national and international conferences and in scientific journals. The majority of your working time will be devoted to your own research studies.In addition, you can have the opportunity to try the teacher role. As a researcher, you work as a neutral party in many contexts, which provides a great opportunity to be involved in challenging development projects.
Qualifications You as a PhD student should speak fluent English; have a master’s degree in civil engineering, materials science, or chemistry.
