Job description

The position is offered in relation to the research group”Microgrids” and the Postdoc will be positioned in the section for Electric Power Systems and Microgrids. 

Job description

The research areas will be within the Medium Voltage power converters for microgrids, photovoltaics, and energy storage applications. The position requires research qualifications at a Ph.D. level with strong experience for designing, controlling, prototyping, and testing of HF-AC link converter topologies. 

The position requires that the candidate has a solid background in HF-AC-link power converters, multilevel topologies, medium voltage(MV) converters, battery storage systems and electric vehicle charging stations for MV and microgrids applications. Therefore, it is required that the candidate has both practical and industrial experience within power converters design, magnetic design for high-frequency transformers-inductors, thermal design, and power loss calculations. 

Laboratory experience regarding medium to large-scale benches prototypes using AIT controllers, FPGA, and TI DSP platforms as controller units is needed. In addition, experience in HIL platform such as Typhoon-HIL, dSPACE, and RTDS is a must. Industrial experience developing real products, such as power converters for electric vehicle chargers and batteries is required. Cooperation with the railway industry is an asset.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
