We are looking for a PhD candidate, with a passion for research to join the flagship initiative Technology Leaving No One Behind, which supports the development of socially sustainable technology development within innovation and entrepreneurship.Since 2019, DTU Skylab has collaborated with the Bevica Foundation, the Association of Young People with Disabilities (SUMH) and Disabled People’s Organization Denmark (DH) to bring inclusion into innovation, entrepreneurship and education at DTU through the project Technology Leaving No One Behind. The collaboration has already produced great results (read, among other things, debate post from Børsen) and continues as a strategic effort towards 2030, with support from the Bevica Foundation.You will be part of a project team with a senior project manager, student assistants and form a research team of two (Assistant Professor and PhD student). The research team will focus on method development and research focusing on implementing an inclusive mindset at a technical university and impact measures. DTU Skylab and DTU Entrepreneurship are therefore looking for a person who is both proactive and structured, preferably with solid knowledge within the area of social sustainability, and who has a passion for conducting research within inclusion, implementation and impact of social sustainability. With that in mind, we would like to invite candidates to write a research proposal for the overall research question: How to implement and sustain an inclusive ‘Leave no one behind’ mindset at a large technical university focusing specifically on how to measure impact?
- How might we identify implementation strategies that are optimal for implementing an inclusive mindset at a university?
- How can we measure the impact of strategic changes and practical applications aimed at promoting inclusiveness?
- How can we measure the potential resulting effect on student mindsets?
The scholarship position is part of a collaboration between DTU Skylab, DTU Entrepreneurship and DTU Management, and will be supported by an academic supervision team from each of these centre’s, however the primary place of work will be in the vibrant hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, DTU Skylab, as part of the project team.
Responsibilities We are looking for an ambitious candidate for a PhD project (3-year, full-time) to focus on the project topic. We expect that the candidate will learn to perform rigorous and relevant research using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods and extend collaborations with key academic and industrial partners at both a national and international level. We also expect that the candidate will disseminate their research findings in academic and practice-oriented outlets.
Qualifications Candidates should have a master’s degree. Master’s degrees in a variety of disciplines will be considered. Candidates may apply prior to obtaining their master’s degree, but cannot begin before having received it. In addition, we seek a candidate with:
- A longer-term interest in pursuing a research career
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English
Approval and Enrolment The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. Salary and appointment terms The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
