Qualification Details
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent by the time of employment. We expect the candidate to have publications at relevant venues, e.g. STOC, FOCS, SODA, SOCG, ICALP, PODC, ESA, STACS, or relevant journals. We expect that the candidate has either already made contributions to the field of graph algorithms, computational geometry, or graph theory, or has shown remarkable versatility within related areas.
Responsibilities/Job Description
You will engage in the pursuit of new geometric and/or graph theoretic insights and apply them to develop new efficient algorithms, data structures, or lower bounds. The research is in collaboration with the postdoc adviser, associate professor Eva Rotenberg.
Together, we will approach questions relating to graphs, geometry, and algorithms, broadly. This includes research questions on the border between geometry and graph algorithms, such as: theory and algorithms for graph drawing, or algorithms and data structures for planar graphs, intersection graphs, or geometrically embedded graphs. This also includes research questions relating to static as well as dynamic, distributed, and online algorithms. Specifically, there are questions related to matching, colouring, clustering, and connectivity that would be very interesting to approach and to work on together. The postdocs are financed by the Carlsberg Foundation project "Graph Algorithms with Geometric Applications", the Villum Young Investigator project "Efficient Recomputations for Changeful Problems" and the Independent Research Fund Denmark project "Dynamic Network Analysis".
These projects run alongside AlgoLoG’s other projects on algorithms, complexity, and graph theory. We hope the postdoc will engage in scientific discussions and collaborations in the group.
Participation in relevant conferences, meetings, and workshops, is financed by the grants.
