Qualification Details

We expect that you have a technical background (e.g. engineering or physics) with a strong interest in ionizing radiation, quality management, metrology and/or advanced measurements. We are a small team (seven persons, excl. PhD students), and we all do many tasks, so we expect that you are flexible and come with your own ideas of how the laboratory can develop and expand in the future. A good command of Danish is an advantage.

Responsibilities/Job Description

We have advanced instrumentations and irradiation facilities. Measurement methods include electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, film dosimetry, calorimetry and ionization chamber measurements. Some measurements are supported by detailed Monte-Carlo modelling of radiation transport. All activities are research based, and we provide professional, short-term teaching courses and university teaching. We develop software for certain measurement tasks using Labview, python and R.

There is a strong overlap between the two parts of the laboratory, HDRL and LMFD, but your main tasks will be in relation to HDRL. You will work with and for customers in understanding and fulfilling their measurement needs, you will work with our technicians to plan and perform the measurements, and you will report the measurement results to the customers. The work will involve travel (mostly in Europe) for on-site measurements at the customers’ facilities. Other important tasks are to maintain and further develop measurement procedures and the quality management system for HDRL and LFMD.

About the Project

The laboratory is one of the leading dosimetry laboratories worldwide, mainly working with dosimetry in electron, x-ray and gamma beams. We provide measurement and calibration services on a commercial basis for industrial applications (e.g. medical device sterilization) through our Risø High Dose Reference Laboratory (HDRL) and calibrations related to radiotherapy through our Laboratory for Fundamental Medical Dosimetry (LFMD).

We offer work in an international environment with very skilled and dedicated persons on all levels. The work will be in close contact with industry and research. Depending on your interest and prior knowledge (e.g. quality management or ionizing radiation metrology), the tasks for each of the two positions can be defined accordingly. As we work with highly specialised measurements, we will provide a training programme for you.

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or any other relevant agreement.
