At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical neuroscience, Health and rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology as well as Psychiatry and neurochemistry.
The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology invites applications for a researcher position at the Department of Clinical neuroscience.
MS research at the Sahlgrenska academy is well established with studies in epidemiology, neurovirology, neuroimmunology and biomarkers. Several collaborative projects have been established, and research for development of biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid and blood has been particularly successful with several dissertations. The biomarker projects have been done in close cooperation with the Department of Psychiatry and neurochemistry. The research group includes neurologists, immunologists, neurochemists and doctoral students.
- Development of analytical methods for the determination of neurodegenerative and inflammatory biomarkers with specific focus on NfL, GFAP and Midkine
- Measure cerebrospinal fluid and blood biomarker concentrations using immunoassays including single molecule array (Simoa)
- Compile data from experiments, statistically process and analyze results
- Structure and organize biobank
The successful applicant should have:
- PhD degree in relevant subject
- Practical experience on validation of immunochemical assays inclusive single molecule array (Simoa)
- Extensive and in scientific publications documented knowledge on biomarker research
- Excellent scientific communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Additionally, the successful applicant should be structured, driven and cooperativ. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
The employment is limited (temporary) for 3 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date: as soon as possible or as agreed.
