PhD student in Electronics on sound imaging systems with machine learning

Mittuniversitetet, Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering

At the department, education is conducted in the subjects of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering and sound production. The research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and deals with sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

The research center STC (Sensible Things that Communicate, www.miun.se/stc) is looking for a PhD student in sound imaging systems. The research will be carried out together with industrial partners in a larger project that integrates technology challenges in sensor technology for industrial and medical applications.

Job descriptionWe offer a PhD position in sound-based measurement technology focused on studying sound imaging systems with microphone arrays, beamforming and classification with machine learning. The position is related to collaborating research groups with activities in machine learning, sound analysis and image analysis as well as artificial intelligence. The research for the service is carried out in close collaboration with national and international partners.

The focus of the position is in the area of sound imaging for the characterization, positioning and classification of sounds. The service may also include implementation aspects of machine learning models on embedded systems. Work can be experimental and theoretical in nature and include data collection, development and verification of models, and generalization of solutions.
