University West (Swedish: Högskolan Väst) is a university college (högskola) located in Trollhättan, in southwestern Sweden. University West was initially called University College of Trollhättan/Uddevalla (Swedish: Högskolan i Trollhättan/Uddevalla) and had three campuses, in Trollhättan, Uddevalla and Vänersborg. In 2008 all activities were relocated to new facilities in Trollhättan.

University West in Trollhättan is a modern university which offers education collaborating with work-life in an attractive and modern study environment. We focus on the student and learning.


Research is conducted within the areas of

Work integrated learning constitutes an important, interdisciplinary, field of research. There is a strong connection between the research conducted at University West and the undergraduate education.

The research concerning production processes in manufacturing industry is of special importance. This research is conducted in close collaboration with a variety of businesses. University West is authorized to award degrees at the doctoral level in the field of Production processes and Work Integrated Learning.

University West’s strategic planning is based upon the Strategic Platform and is decided by University West’s University Board. The strategies are reviewed annually and are documented in the University Operational Plan (ÖVP). The University Operational Plan then forms the basis for each work unit’s operational plan.
